Carlsbad SWCD (nmcc-ed-4)
The Carlsbad SWCD weather station is located on the property of the Carlsbad Soil and Water Conservation District Office. It is an experiment in wireless communications, where off-the-shelf 802.11 b/g networking technology is used to provide an internet connection to the weather station. The station uses two power systems to independently power the datalogger and the communications equipment. Currently, communications are available during noon hours only, due to a power issue with the solar panel.

Change/Maintenance Log
October 5, 2009: Went to Carlsbad to diagnose communications issue. The Carlsbad SWCD office router was reconfigured with a new IP address, so it was thought that the networking configuration was incorrect. However, the reason we were unable to communicate with the station was that communications were only available during noontime, due to power issues. The solar panel that powers the wireless access point on the station was producing insufficient voltage to charge the back-up battery and power the wireless access point. Therefore, until a new panel is installed, communications should only be attempted around noon. Also, the MetOne 034B Windset was replaced with a new MetOne 34B Windest. The old windset needs to be sent for repair.
